Why are you Leaving?

"Multi-mission" sells in congress. Wanna get a program going? Tell everyone it can support a dozen missions. Better yet, all the extra parts can be made in a dozen more districts. I wouldn't be surprised if the idea at least pops up outside of this forum a few times before all's said and done.
 
COD dude by day, high speed SOF inserting, terrain following, strategic asset and tactics expert by night. Keep a sat phone with you by the pool at the Dubai Hilton for when the call comes.
You mean the COD dudes will have to learn to fly at night?
 
I'll tell you one thing that I see regularly with NSW, which might add to their RW training support shortfall woes, is those guys absolutely do not know how to adequately plan a training event to save their lives.

At least in comparison to other SOF entities, which actually take planning / scheduling / synchronization EXTREMELY seriously.

Hence I rarely see those other units go without RW support from AVSOC / 160th, yet NSW can't crack the code to get SOF RW assets to play with them in a lot of instances.

Don't get me wrong, NSW has it's strengths, but planning and scheduling minutia ISN'T it.
 
I don't know about the white side, but that doesn't seem to be an issue for the Dam Neck guys. They're an entirely different thing though, obviously.

I guess your post had some other contribution to the admittedly significant thread drift, but maybe I missed it...?

I get the feeling that you're trying to tell us something, right? I mean, what's with all the coy pretense? Seems to me. you've got two basic posting modes. The first is your FTN, glad I got out mantra. I get it - you did your time and figured out the Navy isn't for you. No one is happier than I am that you've moved on. Your second mode of posting is to tell us about all the NSW guys you work with. Like I said, that's fantastic. I'm thrilled that you've found a way to leverage your Navy experience into a way to seem cool on the internets. I can't wait to hear more. Seriously.

In my experience the order of planning efficiency and effectiveness, specifically when coming to integrating RW support.

Tier 1
Marsoc
Army SF
AFSOC
NSW

Until just recently, as in the past two-three months, NSW planning for training events has been mediocre to downright atrocious. There is one particular SO1 at TRADET West Coast that has been fantastic at planning so there has been a marked upswing.

Leaving because despite the capability to rescue someone and semi regular practice of doing so at 10,000 feet, the Navy doesn't value this skill set. I guess it make sense because helos are clearly meant for other purposes like delivering hellfires and APKWS.

I must be missing something (sarcasm). You are getting
out because the Navy doesn't take SAR serious enough for you?
