Whiting Pines Fencing

My wife and I plan on moving into Whiting Pines housing this week and we need to put up a fence. The lady at the office said that all fences had to be taken down when residents move out. It seems to me that a fence isn't exactly something I'd want to take down if I took the time/money to build it in the first place. Do any of you who live in the Pines have a fence that you did yourself? What did you do to keep it from being a huge project to take down?

Thanks!

I bought a used fence from someone who was moving out. I put it up myself with the help of a couple of neigbors. Not too difficult, just be ready to spend a day or so putting it in. I suggest trying to find one from someone who is moving out (much cheaper.)

The fence most put in are chain link, and more often then not bought from someone who is moving out. anything more extensive then a chain link fence expect to have to pass it through housing and getting an answer back can take over a month at times...

Inigo Montoya: You are wonderful.
Man in Black: Thank you; I've worked hard to become so.
Inigo Montoya: I admit it, you are better than I am.
Man in Black: Then why are you smiling?
Inigo Montoya: Because I know something you don't know.
Man in Black: And what is that?
Inigo Montoya: I... am not left-handed.
Man in Black: You are amazing.
Inigo Montoya: I ought to be, after 20 years.
Man in Black: Oh, there's something I ought to tell you.
Inigo Montoya: Tell me.
Man in Black: I'm not left-handed either.

Threadjack way more interesting and pertinent to Naval Aviation...a classic cruise flick if there ever was one

God some thiings never change - it's the same policy when I lived there at lovely 222 Merrell Drive. Yeah buy someone else's fence when they move - a simple cruise through the entire housing area will find you more than enough candidates.

The housing folks are sticklers about the holes being filled in etc when you leave - also if your mutt ravages the back yard be prepared to do a little remediation there as well.

ut overall Whiting Pines is a swell place to live - I hear the houses are all restored - no more poured concrete tirazzo floors?

OH, don't be fooled, there are still a ton of terrazzo floors. We lucked out of getting one of those and getting carpet. Ah, the simple pleasures.

Is there a community board or something where we could maybe post a flyer to find a fence?

The community board is the mailboxes... you can find all sorts of things there, from useful to absolute junk. No flyers for fences last time I checked though.

Can't you just buy the fence that's already there? In essence...never take it out.

That would be nice, but they (the housing office) make you take the fence down and fill in the holes to pass your final move-out inspection.
