After 3-4 months of running FireFox and lovin' it ... use it for default browser.
Yesterday:
I downloaded and installed 3-4 available Mozilla downloads ---IE Tab, the WX download, FastFox, and one other dealing with security -- name escapes me now --- and everything seemed to working 4.0
Today:
I downloaded Thunderbird. Installed it, imported contacts and email folders from Outlook 2003. Sent myself a couple of test messages --- everything worked 4.0.
Tonight???:
FireFox locks up (unresponsive) on start-up. Repeatedly. Won't open at all. Did some clean-up routines with Registry Mechanic and another registry "fixer". Rebooted a couple of times --- not change.
Any ideas before I uninstall/sh!tcan FireFox, Thunderbird and start over ???
That's my guess --- one of the plug-ins was bad. No bug report.Fly Navy said:Wonder if one of the plug-ins may be bad? Did it come up with any kind of bug report?

Looks like uninstall --- clean out all directories and registry entries --- and reinstall Firefox --- I DO like it --- minus plug-ins and Thunderbug.
Bummer ... and "they" say IE explorer is crap ???![]()
Yeah ... looks like that is the way I'll go --- uninstall --- reinstall --- no big loss. Just a pain in the ass. Computers are great --- except when they don't work. And it usually seems to be crashing software issues.Fly Navy said:You should be able to get rid of a plugin without reinstalling, but a reinstall is a safe bet of course.
Haha, that's the inherent problem with having a more open architecture, people can write bad code for it. I've definitely seen that in Linux...

O.K. ... what FLY-guy said ..... and even thought I had a problem with a plug-in the other night ... it's all cleared up and I'm back up with FireFox. I think it much superior, overall, to Internet Explorer. In fact, I looked at IE 7 Beta-2 that is available for download and it mimicks some of the features of FireFox, in my opinion. I don't currently have any issues with IE WRT stability, malware or any of that stuff that is commonly touted as "better" on Firefox. Alright, let me have it.Brett
