When I was there, they had a dollar theater that served beer.

Umm...And what kinds of movies did it play?
Umm...standard ones. I have a hard time imagining what the religious nuts in P-Cola would do if there were a porn theater there.

Ha! You're not kidding, either. I've only been back here a week, and the novelty of screwing w/ the crackpots has already started to wear off. I'm running out of snappy comebacks for when I'm asked if I've "accepted the teachings of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into my heart." Pretty soon, I'm going to have to break out the ol' Asp baton and start whacking people...

I think he's talking about cheapy discount theaters, and if there was one, which I haven't seen, it would probably be impossible to get into with all the Pensacolians stopping by there on the way to get their food stamps.

Just go see something with subtitles. With a funtional literacy rate of around 25%, the native Escambians won't go anywhere NEAR that movie.

My favorite (taken from my hero Dirty Harry) was simply:

"Shut your face, hippy."

Hahaha The only problem is that, other than the rattlesnakes these folks are waving around to 'prove their faith', they're more clean-cut than 70% of the ensigns around here.

I'd rather be around the "illiterate, dumb rednecks" down here than the dangerous, illiterate gang-bangers that plague the cities of the North and West. Pick your poison. At least the rednecks won't shoot you for your shoes.

I'm a NY'er who just moved to Pensacola from the Bronx---gimme Hunt's Point crackheads any day over this G-d damned redneck place.

Silver Screen in P-cola is a great place. The beer is cheap the food is crappy (but cheap) and it's fun. The only thing that sucks is all the trailer folk show up with their babies in strollers for movies like "The Ring". Naturally the kid starts to scream when everyone else does, but keeps right on screaming when everyone else stops. Usually there's some jackass on his/her cell phone during most of it, but you get that anywhere.

You can bring your own food in too, if you're sneaky about it. One night we wanted to see a movie there but the BBQ was slow in warming up so we put the chicken, beans, rolls, mashed potatoes, etc in tupperware and headed on in. The only thing we didn't bring was beer, but hey it was Wednesday night!

Screw the theater, I'd pay a dollar to listen to the crazies campaining outside the Olive Baptist church any day of the week. I love their silly outfits and their pictures of the bible in flames.
