What is the ASTB

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but what is the ASTB. I have heard it mentioned many times but never what it is, what it is for, why to take it, what it is on, where to take it, when to take it, and why it is so important?

Since your profile says you are 16 I won't go into details, but the ASTB is a test to rate officer applicants for the Navy and the Corps. It's like the SAT for College. If you want to become an officer in the Navy or the Marine Corps, you take it to apply for acceptance into OCS, after college. There are other ways of becoming an officer such as the academies, ROTC and BDCP programs.
