What Are You Listening To?

Tim Dillon has some pretty funny, irreverent stuff lately.

On a Zach Bryan / Morgan Wallen kick lately. Zach’s story is kind of wild. Born in Yokusuka, enlisted in the Navy at 17, rose to AO2. He had a couple albums and youtube videos out there before his last haze gray underway, then by the time they came back to homeport he was crazy famous. I don’t know what ship he was on but if any of you served with him I’d be interested to know.

Mostly the interrupters lately. My boys love them, and I enjoy as well. I also missed the last ever NOFX show in PDX last weekend, sadly.

I've been really getting into this podcast lately.

"Mission Implausible

As former high-level CIA operatives, John Sipher and Jerry O'Shea would create fake conspiracies around the world. Now, with the help of experts, they execute their own fun and fearless investigation into conspiracy theories past and present to assess what's real. And how. And why."

The two hosts were in the clandestine service for their careers and now talk about the intelligence communities and how works events effects them, what their roles are, and they apply some critical thought from their perspective to a lot of what's going on in the world.

I enjoy it.

John Sipher usually has pretty smart things to say on Twitter/BSky.

Historian Niall Ferguson is one of “The Goodfellows” at Stanford’s Hoover Institute. Happened to catch this discussion, the main point being that a tipping point of great powers has been when interest on the national debt begins to exceed budget outlays for defense. The US crossed that threshold last year. Certainly an interesting data point.

Even though he does occasionally make a good point, he’s a Trump apologist.

What RFK Jr would sound like if he were in a 3rd tier 80s metal band.
Copilot AI's first take on lyrics for this imaginary rewrite of Girlschool:

🎸 Verse 1
I roll into town with a budget blade
Cutting corners like a renegade
CDC’s got data, but I’ve got flair
Science gets dusty in my leather chair

💥 Pre-Chorus
Needles and facts? That’s old school
I’ve got a spreadsheet and a power tool

🔥 Chorus
I’m the king of red tape rock
Shutting down the health talk
Vaccines on the chopping block
Watch me walk that walk
Public trust? I break the lock
I’m the king of red tape rock

🎸 Verse 2
Epidemics? Just PR noise
I silence docs with policy toys
Health and Human? I run the show
If it saves lives, it’s gotta go

💥 Pre-Chorus
Truth’s too loud, so I dim the light
Spin the stats and rewrite the fight

🔥 Chorus
I’m the king of red tape rock
Shutting down the health talk
Vaccines on the chopping block
Watch me walk that walk
Public trust? I break the lock
I’m the king of red tape rock

🎤 Bridge
I wear a suit, but I play it mean
Turn wellness into a war machine
No more shots, no more care
Just headlines and a vacant stare

🔥 Final Chorus
I’m the king of red tape rock
Shutting down the health talk
Vaccines on the chopping block
Watch me walk that walk
Public trust? I break the lock
I’m the king of red tape rock
Yeah, I’m the king of red tape rock
