I watched Basic Training last night while the girl was trying to sleep, she was getting pissed listening to the gunny from full metal jacket talk. He was talking like he is a real marine, is that a true statement? If so, I'm thinking he found the best job a marine could find. Getting paid a ton of money to play a marine on tv.

If you're referring to R. Lee Ermey, he was a Marine. I believe he was the advisor for Full Metal Jacket, but he made such an impression on the director, he cast him as the DI. At least that's what I heard.

Goliath:

I want to fly, I would prefer to be in the Navy, but seeing how the Marines are more lenient on the age issue, if I become inelligible to fly Navy the Marines maybe more of an option. So we'll just see what happens.

Yes, Mr. Ermey is a retires GySgt w/ 20+. He was on a radio morign show a while back and he does VIP visits with Marine units on occasion and he leads them on 20 mile ruck-marches and the such. He's still hardcore, and almost 70 I think.

He was a Staff Sergeant when he retired.
The Corps made him an Honorary Gunny not that long ago!
