We flew into McCarran when we went. Why are they trying to force BOQ's, people getting in trouble out in town? (not that that would solve any problems)

You get a pay check use it. Its Vegas man don't be lame. They should still reimburse you up to whatever the Q rate is.
Just speculation, but if thats true it would prob just mean no cost tad ccx which would suck a little, but getting out of Meridian shouldnt be a prob as long as an x is backing it up.
Thats the way I look at it. You can get a pretty good deal at the luxor or New York, New York and won't end up paying that much out of pocket, if any.
DTS doesn't really work that way. BOQ or nothing was SOP when I was IPing, unless it was a weather divert. The squadron can't afford to pay everyone to stay in town all the time, so they have to cut back somehow. It was pretty normal to go somewhere, share rooms and suck it up if there wasn't a Q in the town. Otherwise you'd stay at the Q and get reimbursed.
And before someone pipes up with "...but that's not right or IAW w/ the JTFR...!" yeah. Get over it. The amount of money that is spent on TAD in the TRACOM is huge, but it's still a great deal and this is the way they keep the good deal.
Yeah I don't care about spending my own money, but I think they were giving people a hard time about doing it last weekend.

My "low-rent" guide to Vegas, from numerous TAD's there:
Embassy Suites (right off the Strip) offers a free happy hour with appetizers -and free wireless internet if you sign up for their rewards program.
If you see a "Tix-4-Tonight" office (there is one near the M&M Factory, and one in the Treasure Island Mall), they sell show tickets at discounted prices, as long as you come in the morning of the show. If you are able to pre-plan, I would get tickets there first, or at the ITT office on Nellis AFB.
Toby Keith's "I Love this Bar and Grill" inside Harrah's offers a free beer and half-off cheeseburger meal to all military members.
The casino at Paris is one of the cheaper ones on the Strip - they will have $10 blackjack tables early on Friday and Saturday nights. Planet Hollywood also tends to be cheaper.
Battistas, behind Bally's, is a place offering unlimited wine if you get one of the entrees. It is not great wine, but it is certainly unlimited.
Capriotti's (near Nellis AFB) has a sandwich called "the Bobby" that is the best sandwich in Vegas. I have not ever heard an argument on that.
The Wynn and Encore have amazing decor - it is worth going there just to walk around and/or enjoy the buffet, even though it is out of the way.

Check out the Hooters, its one of the smaller hotels but it is pretty nice.
Hotel, casino, pool, and restaurant and it will be around 1/3 of the price of the larger places.
Youll have to go somewhere else to do any serious gambling/partying but thats probably the plan anyways.
It is right next to MGM Grand about 100 yards off the strip.

Man I just went to vegas last month for my 21st. I went with about 12 marines (I'm Navy) so I got quite a few service jokes thrown at me. Other than that awesome place.
My favorite bar hands down though is Diablo's. Cool happy hour wheel that changes every 30 minutes and just a laid back sports bar that is always packed. (nachos are awesome)
The 5 below was sick too, its just up the escalator inside THE Hotel at Mandalay Bay.
We all whent to Sapphire Club (strip) and it was not bad. They will even come pick you up and take you back to your hotel 24-7.
There are girls everywhere so it doesnt really matter where you go, you will meet some.
Lastly the Stratisphere has a crazy ass roller coaster that is on top of the skyscraper.
Enjoy, im jealous.
