Sample size from one dude and my immediate friend group, but definitely not the case for the upper income, upper tier colleges part. Heck, my dad didn’t even go to college, and my best friend’s parents were two senior enlisted marines. I’m sure there are some commonalities across academy selectees, but these aren’t it.
Add a other data point. Mom is a University of Buffalo (Erie Ivy League) grad and Pops was USAF E-6 no college.

As a statistician,
Dude, as a part time Intel guy, you’ve repeatedly proven yourself to be little more than a dispenser of embarrassingly bad gouge and absolutely atrocious analysis of basic geopolitical events. Now you want us to listen to your statistical musings? No thanks.

We need kids from single parent household where there was no time or money to play sports, or join a club and be a leader, or have access to technology or tutors
No we don't. We don't need any [insert immutable characteristic or demographic] kids. We need people with talent and motivation. That's it. Will we have to work harder to find those potentials in areas with a less advantaged population. Probably. But if it's not there, we shouldn't bring them in just because they fit some sort of narrative. It's doing both them and the Navy a great disservice.
