Go to www.ocs.usmc.mil click on the photos - take note of the difference between in-processing and training day 1. That should answer your question.

within the first couple of days, they'll shave your head completely and then every subsequent wednesdays, you'll get a high and tight. Som it's not essential that you have a high and tight, but don't go with hippie hair... you'll be remembered (in a bad way).
