USAF T-X competition

Would that mean replacing the Texan II or just all advanced fixed-wing aircraft? Seems as if a common trainer for all would dilute the value of each pipeline.

What a stupid idea. Send guys to the RAG (OK RTU for you AF types) without having flown anything in which the engines induce yaw when lost (King Air) or in something which is basically the antithesis of their chosen platform (T-38 to C-5 anyone?). I thought the idea was a stepping-stone approach to learning, not producing a bunch of fast jet guys who you then farm out to all the communities.

Make 'em order Goshawks for the T-38 replacement and call it good. I bet it'd be cheaper.

USAF pilots in advanced training currently fly T-38s as the lead-in aircraft for fighter and bomber types and T-44As or C-12s for airlift aircraft.

No love for the T-1 drivers...
