Hello all!
Apologies if this has been covered before, I attempted to search but couldn’t find any answers quite concrete or recent enough to feel satisfied. I will take the knuckle rapping if it’s deemed necessary.
My situation is this: I am applying for OCS in February, with hopes of being picked up for SNA. I have told my recruiter that I really am only interested in SNA, but he seems dead set on submitting me for both, telling me that it will hurt my competitiveness if I choose to only apply for SNA. He has also told me that he has had lots of guys that swore up and down they would never take NFO that take it after they have been selected. My main issue with this is that, with my 55 OAR and 6/7/6 ASTB, I know I stand a decent chance of being selected, but the last thing I want to happen is to be picked up for NFO and then turn it down because it’s not what I want, which would then in turn hurt my chances of SNA upon reapplication. I barely studied for the ASTB the first time I took it, and can definitely score higher, but I would rather not have the handicap of having turned down an SNFO slot.
I see lots of folks on here who have applied for strictly SNA and had no problem getting selected, so is it true what my recruiter is saying?
Thanks in advance!
