Two questions:
First, I am training for the USMC Physical and I have read in several places that it might be a good idea to buy some military boots to get ones feet used to strenuous exertion in them. (A thing most of us college fellows are not used to). Could anyone tell me what brand-name, make etc. that I should look for? Also what is the general price range?

If there are any primary students or instructors with better gouge, speak up.

Don't hold them to the "#1 gets first choice" statement right now. A buddy of mine selected about 3 weeks ahead of me was number one (with like a 54, wanted helo's--didn't even put strike on his card and still got jets). Always and foremost remember that needs of the service above ANYTHING else.

I'd like to correct some information that I've put out on this thread. There's been some confusion about what types of boots are allowed at USMC OCS. I've been a part of that confusion. In my defense, other officer candidates and applicants have posted confusing info too. This must have reached somebody important because there is an update on the Marines OCS website addressing this very issue. Apparently, black boots will now be allowed for hikes and PT. So officer candidates will be allowed to bring black boots to OCS. As far as which boots are recommended, I'm sure there are plenty of Marines who can offer suggestions.
