Two oil tankers hit in Gulf of Oman

Would you prefer full scale strikes?
One of the results of this is certainly going to be a long term increase in the price of oil and LNG due to risks and insurance.
Just saw this article on how much shipping costs have risen:

Supertanker chartered from Gulf Coast to China for $76 million, 10 times higher than pre-war level

I literally thought you guys were kidding about Trump working a deal with the Russians, allowing them to again influence one of our elections.

"based on the condition of their diesel refineries"

Um, arent we kinda helping the people who are de-conditioning those?

INB4 the 5D chess, "we win either way" crowd, but this kinda seems like the old CIA militia v. Other CIA militia kinda situation.

How many times have we left the Kurds high and dry now?

But yeah, this is simply demonstrating to the rest of the world you can trust American partnership about as far as you can throw it. No way that can possibly come back to bite us at any point in the future...

@Flash I owe you an apology.. it looks like our "plan" is to get diesel from Russia.

No apology needed, I didn't have that on my bingo card either. I'm gonna need a bigger bingo card....

It looks like China has fallen for that incredibly stupid idea and implemented a diesel export ban

Still incredibly stupid.

More accurate to say a diesel export ban (not price controls) benefits some (farmers, truckers) and negatively impacts others (refiners) - and this changes over time as refiners without external incentives (or regulations) would reduce capacity...How long refineries can forego maintenance and run flat out as they have been remains to be seen, but when a barrel of diesel is $200+, they will probably go as long as they can....

And this is a big reason why it remains incredibly stupid and one of the reasons why oil companies have pushed back hard against an export ban. If a ban is put in place the refineries would likely reduce production and result in the price of diesel increasing even more in the long run.
