That IROC guy has got to be the most pathetic - I can't - this is - Blargh! "Most cops know that I pull over as a favor to them."

But if that washing and waxing thing works on the stealth bomber... (/sarcasm)

Stupid damned thing though is the plane is anything BUT shiney. It's a matte finish to prevent glare and reflection.

Damn... ya know, I've heard this radio show before, and basically every show it seems he has a guest who is a total moron call up, and basically they just have people argue with him. I think it's almost Jerry Springer-like the way he runs the show... just find some outrageous SOB out there and let him have his 15 mins of fame (or 30 or whatever).

It's hard to listen to sometimes, but I really wonder how real it is.

i think the funniest thing i heard in there was that radar bounces off the stealth bomber because it has a sweet shine and they wash and wax it every day, "ask anyone in the air force".

Oh, good God, I didn't even get to the part where he mentioned his mudflaps and the neons around his license plate.

And I'm afraid that this guy might have been terribly real. Find any group of teenage "street racers" and at least one will tell you, in all sincerity, that they're getting 50 extra wheel horsepower from their bolt-on fart can and ginormous wing spoiler.

well the sad thing is that, if this is real, this retard is gonna vote in november, be afraid, be very afraid

Hey, if we're lucky, he's actually not full of crap and will be pulled over on his way to the polling place and arrested for assaulting an officer.

my god... that man has his head so far up his ass.

As they say down here in Texas.... "He's Dumber than a Box of Rocks".. say it with a Texas draw.

He probably lubes his tail pipe with KY every night.

"The cop cant pick up radar on my car" "All my tattoos are temporary"
......the Texas Quote explains it all.

and of course to keep it relevant to the forum

"Smile for the Birdie!"

well the radar isnt very intelligent because if it knew what it was doing then it wouldnt target the license plate 'cause the neon bounces it off

Well, the license plate is a nice, flat surface that is probably 95+% orthogonal to the radar beam. As such, it would provide a very nice reflective surface for radar. Not saying that the rest of your car's body doesn't reflect, but, this is nice.

In case there are smart-aleks out there who just dont drive with a front license plate... I would surmise that radiators are also nicely reflective of radar waves.

The fella that called in did bring up a good point, I understand the principle of radar, and how it works in aviation, now the question that's been bothering me, does it REALLY primarily target your license plate to sense speed?

I think they point LIDAR (laser) at your licence plate, not radar. The reason would be that the licence plate has that beaded glass look that reflects light back at the source (e.g. white strips in the road/reflectors). Since the LIDAR beam does not spread out the farther away it goes from the transmitter, it needs a good reflective point to get it back to the reciever. As for radar, I think I read that at 300 feet the radar beam is 12 feet wide. Therefore, it will bounce off of everything in that 12 foot cone (unlike LIDAR)

I was just watching top gun to see all the mistakes listed on that web site. One thing I noticed was that Kelly McGillis is really kinda ugly. Maybe it's just the 80's look but there was something about here that just wasn't very attractive.

CLAM you are so right, she's not so hot looking, not even the 80's could have made her that nasty

This coming from someone who doesn't even have memories from when that movie came out. It's always nice to hear social commentary on a time period from someone who didn't experience it.

For the 80's, she was a hottie. Granted, she looked better in "Witness," but still.
