Tons of ASTB, Navy OCS, and Aviation Questions...

Hello, everyone!

So, I have a lot of different questions and need some explanation about well... almost everything navy, medical, and aviation-related.

I am currently studying for the ASTB; taking it in July. In community college; planning on transferring to a four-year university at the end of my fall semester.

I was wondering if anyone who is or was a naval aviator (or anyone who is knowledgeable in the field), and willing to take some time to explain some stuff to me could please direct message me... I just literally have so many questions, I don't want this thread to be a million pages long.

Thank you so much for reading this! :)

Before you do, take the time to search the forums. There’s tons of material and more than likely your questions have been asked and answered before. There are FAQ boards detailed specifically to naval aviation, ASTB, and medical conditions/eligibility etc. For everything recruiting related, ask your OR who can get into the weeds of the recruiting process.

Your situation is no different than the hundreds if not thousands here before you. Good luck.

What is that supposed to mean?

That we have an endless circle of
1. Wanna-bes coming here.
2. Showing no initiative or willingness to do their own research.
3. Wanting to be spoon fed the answers to the same questions that have been asked countless times before.
4. Being told to put on their big boy or girl pants and invest a little time in either using the search function or ask their officer recruiter before asking the same questions that have already been answered here countless times in the past.
5. It's usually Rufio, an officer recruiter wanting at least some self-starting initiative from potential officers, who tells the wanna-bes to put on their big boy/girl pants.
6. The cycle endlessly repeats.

Both your post show you too are joining the pattern.

Wow. You are literally the rudest person that I have ever met. Thanks for making a new member feel welcome, asshole.

1. I'm not a "wanna-be." I am very serious about my future career and am simply asking for advice.

2. What the hell makes you think I haven't done any research? I have visted tons of different websites, spoken to many different military and commercial pilots, asked my recruiter multiple questions, asked active and past service members for advice, read multiple ASTB study books, read countless articles online. You name it. Mind you, I have a lot of personal-related questions that I wasn't able to ask the people I spoke to outside of the internet, given time constraints, unavailability, etc. I decided to see if anyone could help me out here, where I could keep a record and reference for questions and explanations I needed answers to.

3. I have browsed this site. Yes, I may not have looked into EVERYTHING, given some posts are from the early 2000's, but I did look into the more recent information. In no way, shape or form do I want to be "spoon fed" answers to particular questions that weren't answered. You don't even know what I wanted to ask.

4. You're repeating yourself, "big boy."

5. If it's a problem for Rufio and if this happens so often, he can put up a banner on the home page of this site stating that "wanna-bes" should not ask questions. I'm beyond "self-started." I'm "self-engaged."

6. And what's wrong with this "cycle?" Asking for advice? When was asking questions ever a wrong thing? Yes, I understand that there may be some people who come on here and post a similar thread for shits and giggles, but what the fuck makes you think that I'm not serious for simply making a statement and reaching out for support? How are you just going to go around and assume things or judge other people?

Your post shows that you're a rude jerk who's too full of himself and thinks his confidence is bigger than his microscopic dick.

I thought this site had a friendly community with people who were willing to help others out. I guess I was wrong.

Have a good day.

I obviously pushed a few buttons. But I like your feistiness.

Guess you didn’t browse this site enough or it would have been obvious the type of question you initially asked would have provoked the type of response Rufus gave. You wouldn’t have had to ask what Brett meant either.

If you un-wadded your panties slightly, you’d have seen except for my last admittedly snarky sentence (by hey, it’s what I do), the rest of my post was just answering your question about what Brett meant.

Oh....I might not have a porn star dick but I’m confident about it. It’s never let me down or had it’s size complained about. I’m happy with it.

And just to be fair in our characterizations, please keep flapping your huge pussy lips in righteous indigency.

Gawd I love this site. It’s always so much fun.

@Millitrix if you think @HAL Pilot was being rude when he was explaining his comments to another poster at your request, I have some sad news for you...that’s what the truth sounds like without some bullshit varnish applied to it.

Your initial post seeking someone to take time out of their day to answer some questions you have about entering Naval Aviation is an obnoxious repeat of literally hundreds of first posts on AW’s that we see pretty much every day.

HAL was chuckling at Rufio, an ACTUAL recruiter, having to give the SAME response he always does (a nice version of “Message to Garcia”) prior to MY response (42%) and you flew off the handle, to include a reference to the diminutive size of Hal’s genitalia (accurate, but not germane to the conversation). Not a great start on a public board full of current and former Naval Aviators in a very small community which you seek to join.

If you can’t handle that little nugget of truth without flying off the handle, I have news for you: you won’t make it in this job. Go find something else to do. The world is full of safe spaces for thin-skinned individuals without initiative or an original thought, but the Navy isn’t one of them.

Not at all what I was going for. I’m talking about Rubios demeanor in this case.

Lots of words...

@Millitrix, if you're still listening, feel free to ask your questions on the various sub-sections of the forum. But be forewarned, if it's a commonly asked question, expect the internet to tell you so.

And if you think @HAL Pilot was the "rudest" in that post (which he wasn't), I don't think you've spent much time reading the site!
