i hope someone can shed some light on this for me...not that it really matters seeing that i'm off to ocs sat. march 23rd. but my recuiter told me that you do one sea duty every 2-3 years. he mentioned somehting about that being the length of one tour. however i read in some informational book at my university's career center that:

'the first operational tour of duty with a squadron usually lasts about three years, including two or three deployments at sea or overseas lasting anywhere from five to nine months each.'

so this source says two or three, my recruiter said one...which is more accurate? also does it depend more or less on the platform? thanks a ton.

I think that they are talking about different things. Your recruiter is saying that you will have sea duty (i.e. attached to a sea-going squadron) for about three years. During that time you will go on deployments as mentioned at your career center.
