Will I even transition to the P-8? News came out of the blue since we didn't have orders... I've read old posts but with the drones replacing the EP-3 by 2019, what can I expect?

As of now, there is not slated replacement for the EP-3. Officially, that is. There are versions of Triton at are to replace the EP-3 but that won't be for a bit yet. You're going to be in an interesting position no doubt. You should be able to do your full tour but to be honest, your community is shrinking and will go away soon. That does present some options to you though. Because of the decreasing size, you may be able to transition to a different platform (P-8 or tailhook, should you want it). Also, you do have VPU open to you which is supposed to be pretty awesome. These options won't open up until you complete your first tour though.

You'll be living the good life. Everyone that I talked to loved that community for the most part. This includes Pilots, NFO's and Aircrew. Also, learn how to put on a damn smoke mask so it doesn't fog up because I'll be seeing you soon....

Reading this as I am about to go to a IFF/SIF working group . . . . . . .That's what your community's greatest aviator said in his masterwork.
After 9 years in the VPenis/VQueery, I can honestly say helos sounds better and more fun, in terms of actual flying (VFR, low, not burning holes in the sky at 25000'), except when it comes to getting the fuck out and going to fly for the airlines.
My current VQ experience is limited to what I've seen from their leadership and from talking to all the VQ nerds at the VTs. It doesn't paint the community in a great light. They hated each other, but they hated their community more.
I guess what I'm saying is..... Enjoy your next 8 years.

Sorry to hear if true, but then again VQ types may not have as cheery disposition and positive outlook like you.
