I was wondering if there's anything in particular that those of you who are in or have completed OCS and/or flight training had or wish you could have had that would have made the experience easier. Sorry if the question sounds complicated. What I'm looking for is a "if you buy ______, your life will be easier" kind of thing.

Christmas is coming up and my parents keep hounding me about telling them what I want. I am having trouble giving them a list because I know that I'll be at OCS in nine months and most of the things they'd get for me I won't be able to use after that. Any ideas?

In several of the journals that I have read on the internet the author talks of prepping for inspections and studying late at night. The specs of what can be brought includes a flashlight (at least in the DEP Guide to Success). Therefore I would suggest asking for a small flashlight which could be clipped to clothing or worn so as to keep your hands free.
