The Ultimate SHTF Rifle

Hey everyone. I'm looking into building/buying a nice rifle that would be well suited for reaching out and touching someone. I want a larger caliber than my AR (5.56 NATO), a synthetic stock, excellent accuracy and reliability, semi automatic action. I'm thinking about going with a Springfield Armory M1A w/ 22" GI barrel, trigger job, synthetic stock, some kind of optic, and a bipod. Any thoughts? Recommendations?

I want this to be the rifle that I take to the roof with a case of beer when the zombies attack. Thanks!

I loved my M-14. Never should have sold it. With all the aftermarket options, you could custom one up to your desires.


Ready out of the box, money not an option, I want the Steyr Scout in .308, with the high cap mags! (but of course, it's not semi-auto)

. . .Then again, for zombie killin', I probably want a shotgun. Gotta' break 'em apart and knock em down, or they keep chargin'.
