The Perpetual MEGA Space Thread

Saw a ForceConmect recently about the MSO redesignation opportunity. I don’t know anyone who is pursuing it but could be an interesting path for space nerds.
It looks like an interesting career path. I was researching it a couple years ago. But ended up deciding to retire. I’m curious if it will replace the Space Cadre billets. I know of an E-2 NFO that lat transferred a couple years ago, but haven’t heard much else about the community.

I know I've posted these before, but... Here are some pictures from that very same date, 7/21/11, of that very same shuttle right after they landed.

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned in this thread yet, but Blue Origin has finally put their big rocket into orbit and successfully performed a precision booster landing. Nothing ground breaking, of course, but signifies that SpaceX has competition, which is a good thing.

Normally I'd link to the raw launch video, but I found the Blue Origin commentary and overly loud audience super annoying, so I think the next best thing is Scott Manley's recap of the event.

I’ve been wondering how long we’ve had the tech to be able to do the recovery landings versus having someone willing to just keep trying it until they could finally perfect it.

Looking at you, Lockmart, Boeing, and the other traditional launch providers sitting on your laurels.
