Ah, the 80s. Beautiful GUCCI color scheme. Brand new tanker with the new jet smell.... I was born 20 years too late!

Never had the pleasure of refueling probe/drogue F-4s, but ze German vuns were cool enough

I went on a great flight today. VFR up the Hudson @ 500' is pretty cool. The controller asked if I wanted to take a few turns around Lady Liberty before proceeding. Happy 4th of July!

Was "Willy Driscoll" not "Duke Cunningham's" RIO during his infamous 5th MIG kill over N Vietnam?

"Duke" and "Willie" were crewed together in VF-96 and flew three missions in which they downed MiGs. The third one involved their 3rd, 4th and 5th kills and them ejecting over the water after losing hydraulic pressure due to damage from an SA-2.

Don't know about "infamous," but Willie Driscoll was the RIO for all five of the Cunningham MiG kills. He was later a Topgun instructor and then in VF-2 before getting out of the Regular Navy. He was in VF-301 for a while and remained in the Reserves after he stopped flying. Topgun (now a part of NSAWC at Fallon) used him as a guest lecturer for many years, where he would speak to the classes on preparation for combat.
