That A7 pictured above by 2ndGenNA belongs to VA-147 ...the first squadron to fly the aircraft in combat ops ...i.e. Viet Nam. ;)

Close Air Support

Capt. Jonathan Lewenthal and Capt. Eric Scheibe, AV-8B Harrier pilots with Marine Attack Squadron 231, Marine Aircraft Group 14, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward), fly over southern Helmand province, Afghanistan after conducting an aerial refuel Dec. 6, 2012. Some past summer visitors to PDX. Always welcome the Naval Air representation on the GA ramp. The only correlation of the A-26 to Naval Air is that it was a 'nice' looking aircraft and there is a KC-135 in the background which I believe the TACAIR folks are somewhat familiar with. Yeah nice pix 2ndGen, looks like A-4Fs from VAs 23, 192 & 195 on Ye Olde TICO (CVA-14).

Always loved the beautiful 'Viggie", except when I was spotted next in line behind a Vig' in full burner prior to launch. Could not use the JBDs with a Vig'. It was one minute of HELL on earth, even with canopy down/locked!:eek:

Nice eye candy for us'n Vietnam dinosaurs!;)

Cool, was gonna say that looks just like PDX in the summertime. Would love to bring a jet out there (or back home to OR at least) some day, but from Oceana, that's a bridge too far for a good deal weekend cross country unfortunately.
