I'm back from my time ham radio time in Dry Tortugas.
Items of note:
Coast Guard C-130 did a loop around Garden Key at 2110z on 15June2014. No contact on either CTAF freq or 121.5. I had left the marine VHF at the campsite so wasn't able to to try Marine 16.
No pics [smack]
Had the marine VHF with me this time .... said good morning to a Coast Guard helo at 1410z on 16June2014. He came back with same. Eight second contact.
No pics [smack]
Sonic boom was heard at *u/0/h/d0bkk* on *v=c&th=146aed*. It's the only one I'd heard in real life so it took a moment to register that it was not a Barrett 50cal going off (which I have fired).
I was snorkeling with the GoPro and was in perfect position to catch the LifeNet helo coming in for a landing at the South Coaling docks.
(Situation: RNurse having tightness in her throat, difficult to breathe, given EpiPen by Rangers but she decided, in consult with mainland doc, to take flight out anyway)
Screenshots
Caught the seaplanes coming in, as well as docked at the, uh, ramp
