For those who have been through OCS and flight school,, or those who have heard from people who went through it, could you share with us the details as far as: did you make life-long friendships with the others? how strong is the comradery? and were there many good times (bars and parties) where you enjoyed your time?, I know a couple of people who went through it and absolutely loved the whole experience, I wanted to see if the rest of you shared the same sentiments...

thanx,
James

Most definately. Not only do you make friends along the way, but the Navy/Marine Corps is such a small world, you keep running into the same people or people who know the same people. Hell, I keep trying to go west, but John, here, keeps finding me...I can't ever get away!

I've noticed that as I move around, or other people move on, that you say you'll keep in touch, but most of the time, you don't. But then when you run into each other again, it's back like it was before. I think this is just a habit you get into because everyone is so mobile. It's not personal, just a way of doing business, I guess.

James,

I completely agree with Dev's post. The community is a small one, and you continually run into people. Even more so on this last deployment of mine, ran into all sorts of friends that I went through school with in the wierdest locations. I would definitely say that there are good times to be had, and friendships to make in both the Navy and Marines. For me, that is one of the main selling points, how close our communities are, and the friendships that we forge.

*laughs* I wouldn't suggest doing that, but I am curious how the board would view that. I think if I were on the board I would get a hell of a laugh out of that! And I would probably consider the guy, however; that is why I'm probably not selected, or on the board.

That's what was in my statement. I went on to tell them that I haven't had a date in four years and that I needed it real bad! I figured a little honesty couldn't hurt. Besides maybee they thought it was a joke!
