Ok now I’ve got more questions. Are you working with a navy recruiter and have you been to MEPS yet?

Yup navy officer recruiter who has been solid for the most part. Went to medical last summer, got approved with waivers for everything but aviation. So got referred there and did a flight physical in December.

Unless you’re Marine Corps or (sometimes) Navy enlisted you don’t start the NAMI process until you’re at OCS.

Does anyone know exactly what NAMI sees in terms of medical records? Will I get Dq'd because i went to therapy once when I was like 13? Lol. Just curious to how much access these guys have in terms of medical records. Is there a way I can see my own medical records before OCS so I know what to expect? Or see what they can see.

If it’s in your record, they can see it. Usually you can access records online nowadays. I’d highly recommend checking the waiver guide and DQ conditions. You should be able to find everything you need here. If you didn’t require meds or have issues since then it should be a non-issue, although still do your part in making sure you’re as cleared as possible.
Also, when you go to OCS/NAMI, bring physical copies of all your relevant medical records. I’ve heard they have a tendency to lose track of some people’s records making the already lengthy process longer.
Probably not. Depends on what was discussed in those appointments. I, as well as many other qualified SNAs around my time, had received talk therapy prior to military service. A couple had even been medicated for prior diagnosed conditions.
I personally had a lot more difficulties getting past MEPS. Once I got to NAMI, it was streamlined. They send you for a psych eval and consult with a therapist at OCS. As long as you don't fall under a disqualifying condition, they roll their eyes and sign it off. For me, no waiver required at either step and its never come up since.
If your care was within Tricare, they have access to *everything*.
Non tricare:
You can scavenge the internet to try to game what the military has access to versus not or just bring your full records and come in with a clean conscience. The NAMI waiver guide is very representative of what can be waived v not.
Bring multiple copies.
Hey, I wanted to get some advice on something.
I’m currently in the USMC OCC pool, but I’ve been running into issues with my LASIK waiver. I had LASIK about 7 months ago, and my doctor has fully cleared me. I had no complications from the surgery, my vision is fine, and I’ve completed multiple refractions, eye exams, and submitted all the documentation, including scans, charts, and a doctor’s note.
Despite that, medical keeps sending my paperwork back asking for more information. Earlier in the process, I was actually working with the Navy, and they approved an astigmatism waiver pretty quickly. The reason I switched over to the Marine Corps recruiter was because my Navy recruiter tried to talk me out of getting LASIK, and I felt like he wasn’t being honest with me. I didn’t think he would continue working with me if I went through with the surgery.
However, when I switched over to the Marine Corps, they denied that astigmatism waiver and also denied my LASIK waiver.
At this point, I’m trying to figure out the best path forward. Do you think it would make sense to go back to a Navy recruiter and switch back over? And if the Marine Corps denied my waiver, is that something the Navy would likely deny as well?
