Hi guys,

Well, sent in my BDCP app for SNA, Supply, and NFO respectively. It got sent in from my NRD on the 7th of August. I thought I would post my stats in attempts to compare with who is getting accepted these days.

Graduating May 2007
60 OAR on ASTB
3.10 G.P.A. Aerospace Engineering major.
Dean's list 2x

5 letters of rec: 1 from Navy Commander, 1 from Navy LT, 1 from the Dean of student programs at my old school, 1 from the project manager of the patriot missile project at lockheed, 1 from Phd Technical writing professor.

Member of the national collegiate dean's list
2 years high school rifle team (closest thing to sports I could put on my app)
300+ hrs community service and other kinds of volunteer work noted on app
2 years editor-in-chief for community colleges newspaper
3 yrs high school NJROTC
400 simulator flight hours (my recruiter thought i should put this on my app, but I don't know if it should been.)
Good reading writing and speaking spanish

All I can say is that I hope my low GPA doesn't give me a swift kick in the ass as far as BDCP is concerned. Even though I haven't contributed much to this forum, I thank you all for the information I have read throughout this site. It has helped me a great deal in preparing my app and applying for this program. Let me know what you all think.

That sim time is it recognised by the FAA or is PC sim time? If so I have a couple of thousand hours of that.:D

Good luck and God Speed, Godspeed.

Simulator hrs

No, these are flight hours I accumulated by playing microsoft combat flight simulator WWII while watching star trek in my basement.

Just kidding.... My community college had a "flight lab." Basically it was a glorified PC. It had 3 Dell 19'' LCDs linked together one right next to eachother that made up the cockpit, a CH flight yoke, independent throttle quadrant, and rudder pedals anchored to the ground. It always used the latest version of microsoft flight simulator professional, and constantly downloaded real time weather. I took all the flight lessons on it and got all of my ratings except for the ATP.

I am positive this isn't recognized by the FAA, but my recruiter thought I should put this on my app as simulator hours. FAA recognized flight sim hours can actually be logged in a logbook as "flight hours," and ratings can be earned on them. This is why in my app I didn't put any ratings or "flight hours" down. I just put "simulator hours."

Good idea. Although, I will admit, what you described at your comm. college is pretty close to what a sim is...minus the professional model's hydraulics...but its pretty much the same thing as a FAA recognized one. You ought to check in again on that and make sure it isn't used for flight training. The very fact that its in the comm. college makes me think it might have at least some good use to it.

If they were instructional hours with a CFI, I think they can be logged as ground trainer hours, but not positive. Riddle doesn't use MS Flight Sim for their ground trainer stuff but some weird PCATD proprietary software which is far inferior to MS Flight Sim if you ask me. That and the new Frasca simulators which are Level 6 sims, acts just like the aircraft in every way shape form, cockpit right off the Cessna factory line with working instruements, just no motion.

3.8 Criminal Justice Honors
Don't remember but I passed all the PRT tests by a good margin (I have been told that I have the body of Leo DiCaprio, you know you are jealous)

3 LORs - Retired Navy Cpt, Ret AF Maj and Ret Army Intel Capt
Deans list 4x, blah blah blah...let me talk about myself some more
I speak Jive and Snoopy Dizzle Langshizzle fluentizzle & 1 year of Arabic (no...seriously)
Eagle Scout, Boys State
1260 SAT, 29 ACT

I applied for Intel, SWO and Crypto....I would be happy with any of the three. Does anybody know when these boards are really meeting? Haven't gotten any word on the pro-rec yet.

Sorry for the sarcasm, I am on pain killers that make me a happy man (snowboarding accident on Thurs, would be still in hospital if it wasn't for a dorky helmet and a strong will to live).

My app would have been sent in 6 mo ago but I transferred schools and my recruiter said I had to apply from the school I would get the $cholarship from.

September? Jesus man. You shoulda heard back by now (not to worry you or anything). I'd call your recruiter and see whats going on. Snowboarding kicks ass. Going to Whistler in a week or two.
Bdcp isn't really a scholarship, but I think I know what you are saying. That is odd your recruiter told you that you could only apply from that particular school. I've been all over this country and my recruiter has stuck with me the whole way.

Impressive Dolfin. The LOR from the congressman should be worth its weight in gold. BS in accounting should be looked upon highly by supply. My recruiter says that supply should be meeting at the end of JAN, early FEB. Best of luck to you, and let us know what happens!!
