That's flipping gay. We should get vertrep back! :p

One of the things I took from the four hour helicopter brief A Pool received yesterday was that vertrep is not going anywhere. So you got that going for ya.
VERTREP will always be there... probably not dedicated VERTREP, but more like "today instead of SAR you're going to be doing VERTREP."

Exactly. As long as there's a helo with a cargo hook, someone will want you to VERTREP something.

I think the swagger comes from the fact that you can walk into any bar and eye any chick, then glance unsympathetically at her douchebag hippie boyfriend, because as she glances back with a glint in your eye and you see his rage building... you know that she knows that you are always gonna be better and cooler than her douchebag boyfriend... because he's a hippie and you're a Naval Aviator. Navy pilot swagger... dun dun dun!!

Ok, I'm done now. :D

Plus, it helps if you smell like this, just to make sure people get the hint:

Maybe the PRs could use that instead of spraying febreeze on nasty old flight gear to cover up the smell of sweaty ass. :)

Should probably go with Brute instead.

I'm actually jealous about the vertrep thing. We have very few people qual'd to do cargo sling. So much so, that our birds have the hooks removed.

Am I mistaken, or does that say HSL-51 on the side? And am I not mistaken, but wouldn't that make the caption dead-wrong?

Nope. Try a little Googlefu next time. Sometimes, the MC folks in the PAO shack don't get everything right, but this time they did. The Paint Scheme should have tipped you that this helo was special even though it was doing VERTREP.

Hence my cautious question. Thanks for introducing me to google. We're friends now.

You'll be out in the Pacific soon enough and perhaps get to see Blackbeard One up close and personal. Note three stars on fuselage.
