Doubt it will be much better places... Main business trips are to Sikorsky (Bridgeport, CT) and Raytheon (I think they said Iowa). The job's not really with NAVAIR, but it might as well be. NAVAIR is the customer, and I'll be doing oversight... I'm not looking forward to the meetings, but at least I have a job!

Resigned my comission. Still looking towards Coast Guard/Air National Guard so as not to lose my retirement (and, more importantly keep flying!)

Very good point, however my wife and I are geo-bachelors, and she's stationed up there and already owns a townhouse. SO, I'm going to be making the same I make now (with no deployments), and getting rid of one entire household worth of bills. Actually, it'll be pretty nice!

I would say starting at $88k is good, as long as there is room to improve well into the 6 figure range. My brother-in-law started at $91k/yr with a company but his position, if he had stayed, would have taken him to about $135K/yr...not great but better than where he started.

It's funny how trained professionals often get paid less while jobs that you wouldn't think would make much money, rake in the bucks. My wife is part of a decorating franchise that works with clients who make mucho bucks. I got to go to one the houses, he's bail bonds man..owns a shop and makes about $3 million a year. My brother-n-law I just mentioned above, quit his job to buy into a distributorship moving company (All My Sons). He owns 40% and average income after 3 years, $450K a year. Wouldn't have believed it but I've gone over the contract, paper work, business plan, historical data of the current 31 or so companies. My mother-n-law has been the office manager for the one in Dallas for years. The co-owner there is a fat slime ball, no education and made $475K last year. Met the guy and he's so unimpressive but damn he's got an awesome house and quite a few nice cars. My wife's business partner, her husband is an orthopedic surgeon...$200K a year. Screw education, just buy into a moving company or bail folks out of jail :)

I love the area around Pax. I wish I could have found something there in the area. But alas, I'm just a mere ex-nuke with a criminology degree and a SWO background. Sounds like a bastardized combination if I ever heard one.
 
Congrats. I'm getting out soon, so I understand your joy at getting your next job. How many years did you have in? Why did you resign your commission?

Is real estate paying better than any LE options that you might have(if you're even interested in that)? There are a bunch of Prowler guys around Whidbey who are doing the real estate thing now and making good coin.
