Hah! I will buy a pitcher next week for the ENS that shows up in brown shoes and a khaki combo cover to the next inspection. (of course pics and/or witnesses required to claim beer).

I'll do the khaki combo cover, but no brown shoes. They never said anything about combo vice pisscutter.

Well if you do the black shoes and combo, you'll just look like a sub-nuke or SWO or something awful. If you wear the brown shoes and combo, it'll be "legal" (is it?) but you'll look like a freaking abortion.

But what the hell: I'm in a giving mood, so combo at muster, and I got your beer at the O club next friday. We need body count!
 
I wouldn't necessarily diss it either before you get your flight gear issue. It looks warmer than the Ike, and if you already owned it for some reason why not wear it, like the reefer the academy guys have? On the other hand, if you go out and purchase it now, that's kinda gay.
 
Great idea. Unless of course, word of this ingenious thread gets around to the folks in charge of you at API that you are doing this as a stunt for beer (they do have internets, believe it or not, and they ARE on AW)... And resultantly you get sent to one of those lovely boards or get a nice pink sheet in your flight jacket for trying to be cute...

As someone that loves being a wiseass as much as possible, take it from me gents, there are times that a sense of humor and a good joke are a great idea, and there are times you don't want to stand out (at all) and want to be indistinguishable from the man next to you... It has cost me a few extra 0 dark 30 watches and some good chewing out sessions to really develop a sense of when is appropriate and when isn't. Take it from me, now isn't an appropriate time.

And Otto, I think you'd be mighty disappointed in yourself if on an off-chance this "dare" really turned into something serious for one of these guys....

I don't think swo-sweaters are pushing any boundaries (seen them many times down there on fresh academy grads), but combo covers may be pushing the limit... I'd try to be a fly on the wall now if I were you.

Oh yeah, and sorry if I just shat all over everybodys cornflakes... :D

Um.... I remember a recent OCS grad (class after me) who other OCSers told him that the rules were the same as OCS and if it was raining, you had to wear the khaki combo cover (yes this was a rule for us at OCS), so he showed up to Muster in khaki combo much to the enjoyment and ridicule of all around him. It was a joke. It was funny. Nothing punitive occurred. If it is written somewhere that you must wear the piss-cutter, then don't do it. If the attitude at A pool gives you the gut-feeling not to do it, then don't. If you think you could get away with it and not get into trouble, my offer stands.
