I thought that when are our landing in a soft-field, you don't want your gear down...not that I'm speculating anything...promise!

He's not talking about a LAPL, he's talking about a LAPL(P) (in the pattern). "Dump, Suck, Point, Feather, pray." Can you tell I'm in the middle of Contact phase? ;)
