t-34 calibrated airspeed

At least I'm flying. Pansy.
Touche. Yeah, I guess I wouldn't exactly call a C-172 "Flying"...

I guess it is easier to fly at those altitudes in your old stomping grounds. After all, where you flew, the highest obstacle within 1,000 miles was an F-150 with a lift kit.
True - but I've also flown those altitudes in your neck of the woods... Even made a kid piss himself (literally) flying through the Chocolate Mountains... Beat that!

The other thing is that there's a little chart in the back of the PCL that gives IMN and IAS for TAS for various altitudes and temperatures... you'll end up using that over the whiz wheel... I haven't used a whiz wheel in the airplane in a little over a year. In the plane, you'll need to find IAS for TAS... all you need on the whiz wheel for that is temp and altitude.

May you'll end up using that and/or a whiz wheel more. I just look at the GPS.

Wouldn't the "4 knots per 1k feet" method only apply at a certain airspeed? I'm not questioning you guys and your (the Navy’s) methods, but isn't Indicated -> Calibrated a bigger deal at lower airspeeds, due to the (sometimes drastic) change in AOA and the relative wind on the pitot tube? Or does the t34 have a swiveling pitot? Of course larger AC solve the problem by decreasing the angle of the pitot as their AOA increases, just didn't think the 34 was that advanced... not complaining, it'll be nice not having to worry about ias -> cas :)

Uh, all I know is that when you push the stick forward, houses get bigger.

The little magical box that is quickly replacing you? Yeah, that's the one.

Glass houses young Phrog guy, tread lightly being from a community with a moving map that still wants ITG and an IZLID to mark your zone.

Break-

As to making a kid piss himself flying through the Chocolates, that is not the preffered method, clearly he harboured some doubt as to your ability as an Aviator.

Nothing wrong with using all of your resources.

Like you said recently, all you have to do is say "no."

I was actually trying to make him puke. It was a Smokey SAM team for a WTI course. We sent them out to the aircraft to stage their crap while we went through the ADB. When we got out to the aircraft to preflight, one of the kids (the one that ended up pissing himself) remarked "I wish I was flying on a 53, I hate 46's". Game on, motherfucker. :icon_rage

Oh to be young and stupid again and have the fun watching when someone pisses off an older guy with their favorite aircraft.

Kudo's phrog for showing him old doesn't mean useless.
