Hello everyone,

I received an age waiver disapproval for OCS SWO (Current 33 years old). I was wondering if anyone experienced the same thing? Can I resubmit the age waiver again?

I don't think there is a rule you can't resubmit, however you would be submitting to the same person that told you "no" before, so you can kind of figure out what the answer would be.

Not only this, but you're only getting older with age, which just makes the case for entertaining an age waiver more difficult.

Lately, it seems like people are getting to the mentality that waivers are "automatically approved". They're not. A waiver means you are not qualified and you need Big Navy to hook you up for applying.
 
Does anyone know what the current guidance is for pilot age waivers? I noticed the same waiver guideline for SWO was added to the Pilot PA... has anyone requested an age waiver under the current PA and been approved?

They recently bumped the age from 27/29 (for priors) to 32. Why would they want to accommodate the age even further when they receive plenty of applicants already?
 
Just wasnt sure if they were allowing age waiver requests now.. I am prior service... they made the adjustment to the age limit right after I turned 32 so I was hoping they might allow waivers for prior service as they did with the previous age limit...
 
Doesn’t hurt to try.

However, if you want to increase chances for approval, it would help your cause to have a very high GPA and a stellar OAR score.

I reached out to an OR the day the PA was released with the new allowance for requesting waivers... she said the new verbage was a blanket statement being added to all the PA's and CNRC was not yet accepting waiver requests for pilot. Wanted to ask on here to see if anyone has been allowed to submit a waiver request especially if prior service.
 
Doesn’t really work like that. CNRC doesn’t “not accept” waiver requests. They either provide the approve/disapprove in writing.

Maybe the OR isn’t familiar with process or there may be other items about your potential package that giving pause to push the extra paperwork.

Prior service won’t buy you much though; you need high GPA/high OAR for even slight chance for age waiver.

I saw a prior service attempt the waiver and was disapproved. The question came up as to why did the person wait so long in life to apply? There scores were average.

Saw another get waiver approved. But his OAR was through the roof.
 
Thx for the response... OAR is 62 8 8 7... gpa is 2.9 but mechanical engineering... been working for the DoD as an engineer for a few yrs now... I will contact the recruiter again to see if there is clarification on wether or not I can request a waiver... if not do you think scores are enough to consider asking a different OR?
 
If the PA gives a waiver range and you are outside that range an NRD is under no obligation to request one, in some cases NRC will specifically say do not submit waiver request for XXXX.
 
The PA doesnt give a specific range... "In cases where the applicant does not meet all the qualifications, but otherwise has an exceptional record or proven skillset required by the Navy, a waiver may be considered.".... I guess this gives broad latitude to the NRD's to decide what they want to request a waiver for?

The only aviation waiver seen with the new PA was an Aircrewman who had a very impressive background to include 1000+ flight hours and great GPA/ASTB scores. He was gonna commission a few months after turning 32.

I would call that an exceptional candidate. There are plenty of qualified applicants well within the age limit with great ASTB scores who don’t need a hook up from the navy.
