Alright, so I used the search feature to see if there has already been a thread on this but I didn't find one so here it goes. I am still a couple years away from commissioning but I have always had the impression that a Naval Officer needs to be somewhat of an intellect. I love to read and am a history buff but I also realize that current events are important to be familiar with. What Newspapers, Magazines, or Newsletters (electronic included) do you read to keep up on current events. I am talking about all current events, not just ones pertaining to the military.

Also, I love the Reading List from this site, I've bought about half of the books that I didn't have already from it.

Foreign Policy (FP) magazine is decent, National Review, WSJ (Wall Street Journal)...I third the Economist suggestion...Online, you can go to Strategic Forecasting (Stratfor) and get a semi-daily free newsletter from them--I get three I think, Terrorism, Geopolitics, and Public Policy updates...The free newsletters are alright, the Terrorism ones are usually good reading. The Public Policy updates bat around .250---generally suck, but you get a homerun shot in there on occassion...
