Is it a requirement? I’m deployed currently, and roughly within two years of my PRD. Not trying to fight time and my detailed to finish my flight physical when submitting package. (It would obviously suck to get NAMI whammy’d though)

Unless things have changed in a few years, you'll still do an applicant aviation physical at OCS. If you're at an aviation squadron, you can ask your flight doc about it or see if they could contact NAMI and get more information. Most NAMI flight docs I met either through treatment or at the HTs were great and willing to answer any questions. There were quite a few priors who either had an existing flight physical or had one down prior to OCS that had to reapply for their waviers. I would review the NAMI waiver guide to get as much informaiton as possible.

No but it can help give assurance you meet NAMI standards. I wouldn’t go out of your way to get it done.
 
I’m currently enlisted and leave in October for OCS. I did a full Flight Physical and have a letter from NAMI saying I’m qualified medically for SNA. I did it last summer and this summer I’m doing my annual short form before I leave. Definitely a “warm and fuzzy” that I’m good to go and won’t get DQd medically. If you have time, highly recommend
