Hope everyone is doing well! Figured I would hop on here to see if I could gain some clarity as to what I ca expect for the situation I am in as I play there hurry up and wait game.
Background: SNA ISEL 53 8/9/7 on 2/14/25, went to MEPS and learned had to get LASIK surgery (performed on 4/3/25), therefore I have to wait 6 months for the eyes to heal. According to my recruiter everything in my package is fully complete, however the last piece of the package I am missing is the 6 month check in from an eye doctor (scheduled for October 4th) confirming my eyes are good.
1. I keep hearing stories of people's OCS dates getting shifted around, multiple month wait times to get an OCS date (presumably with the board cancelation). I am fully committed and eager to go ASAP, and was hoping to get into the 11/16 OCS class (accounting for 3-4 weeks for my package to get approved). What is the reality in terms of wait times after submitting your package for an individual willing to go ASAP?
2. I am told by my recruiter that ISEL scoring applicants for SNA (assuming nothing goes wrong) are essentially in the door; that the scores essentially confirm your spot in an OCS class some point in the future (I think within 2 years; please correct me if I am wrong), and that there is essentially nothing else to do besides the rest of the paperwork to get the package ready, get into shape, and start studying my Bravo/Charlie Knowledge. My concern is that this entire process seems to have gone extremely smooth (besides the LASIK). I always hear stories that there is fine print somewhere, the jobs aren't available anymore etc. where people spend months preparing for something and it's not there when the time comes. I am not from a military family, this whole thing is new to me. I have a couple months left until I can submit my package and it keeps me up at night wondering if I have done everything I can to be ready when my time comes, or god forbid my ASTB/OAR scores didn't really "secure me a slot" for OCS. It all seems to be going entirely too smooth, almost too good to be true and that worries me.
Any idea on current (package submission) to (OCS date) wait times would be appreciated, and just some confirmation that I truly am good to go for OCS would settle my nerves more than words can describe. Thank you!
