If having to abide by the UCMJ changes your life in any real way, you might want to rethink the whole "being a naval officer" thing. Once you swear in, you're in--you'll be in the USNR until you commission and are on active duty.

I was just curious. I know a lot of things change. This decision didn't happen on a whim. Thanks for the reply.

Two questions about prior service awards:

1. I know I am to bring the ribbons/large medals with me, but should I bring the ribbon rack/medal rack with me too? I know things are set up a little differently in the Navy vs. AF. Would there be a uniform class that would go over how to arrange all of them (and give time to buy one) or would it be in my best interest to get the information beforehand?

2. I've already saw the list of which of my awards transfer from the OCS homepage (http://www.ocs.navy.mil/service_awards.asp), but the one I didn't see on either list was the " Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon". Do this on transfer over? Mine does have the gold border if it matter at all. http://www.afpc.af.mil/library/factsheets/factsheet.asp?id=7821

Thanks for the help!

I wasn't a prior-E, but you'll be wearing Blue-Berries for the first 8 weeks so medals wont be an issue. If you have them on the medal rack, I'm pretty sure you'd want to bring that all complete. You'll have a chance to ask your class O or chief about the arrangement when things 'calm down a little' before Candio-O phase. Hope that helps.

http://www.usamilitarymedals.com/rackbuilder.html and http://www.ultrathin.com

Go to these sites and order your ribbon and medal racks prior to going to OCS. They are authorized and they will make your awards look sharp for inspections.

They are actually authorized for OCS? The standard or anodized? Any info about the "Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon"?

Another question, I also have an Army Achievement Medal. Since I was in the Air Force, the Air Force Achievement Medal went before the Army, but if I select Navy on one of those site, it puts the Army one first. Which order should I have it in?

Your choice. They are your ribbons and you'll be wearing them long after OCS.

They won't know [or care]! Navy uniform... Navy precedence, just don't fail or DOR!

Pickin' at nits, relax a bit.

Thanks for the info. I just want to make sure all my stuff is correct before I drop around $150 buying the medals/ribbons.

Standard for Navy.

Go with the "Navy rack" recommendation. Probably has something to do with "seniority of the service" for "other/prior service awards".
