Squadron visit for a fire team from UCLA Bruin Battalion in SOCAL?

Hey everyone, being the uber-motivated freshman that I am, I decided to start up the aviation club again down here in the Bruin Battalion (UCLA). It's been dead for a few years due to the infestation of SWO wannabes, but there ARE a few of us (Maybe 4 in the whole battalion) who want aviation.

I want to hit the ground running with this thing, and was thinking about doing a squadron visit to somewhere in SOCAL in the near future before summer. Any recommendations, ideas, and info as to where I should go would be very helpful. Thanks!!

If you are looking for Marine Side visits you can pretty much contact any squadron and they should either be able to help you out or redirect you to where you can go. Or PM me if you are looking at going to Miramar.

Either Marines or Navy would be cool. Just looking for the standard tour and to check out some of the aircraft, talk to some pilots/ FO's, and maybe a little sim time too :D

jamnww I'll PM you

Here's what I would recommend, especially if you want sim-time of some sort. Call HSC-3 at NAS North Island and ask for the PAO. Tell him what you want and I imagine that some lucky nugget will shortly be assigned to give you guys the nickel tour. I know that there have been some upgrades to the sims since I was there and I'm not sure what that did to how secure they are, but a year ago we were encouraged to use the sims as much as possible, including tours for scout troops, girlfriends, kids, neighbors, etc.

Could probably pull the same thing off at the AEW Wing at Pt Mugu with the E2 bubbas if you can't make the trip to Lemoore or San Diego.
