To make the gray Eagle drivers extra butt hurt, it was an F-15E. And the Fitter shooter was apparently an E, not an F. Long time no kill for the F-15C.
Think it was -87 instead.
But then what would all the old VF-31 bros have to crow about....?
I assume there is post flight medicinal brandy for gal or guy that gets to paint a SU-22 on their aircraft. I assume the E-2 guys get to as well if they directed the kill.

Yes it used to be an automatic Silver Star, but who knows today. Times may have changed.
It depends, the guys who shot down the Libyan Fitters in '81 got DFC's.
