Bought a motorcycle. It was bad a** until a girl pulled out in front of me. There is no way a 600lb motorcycle can win a contest with a 3000lb car. Lots of pain, little blood. Not a good situation. Hopefully my temporary NPQ will be remedied soon...

Anyway, needless to say I now only operate 4-wheeled vehicles. The bike was a total loss and her insurance paid for all of it. Now the money is sitting in the bank so I can repay my student loans... But, I do now have the ability to buy stuff when I want it, which is nice. Just don't spend it all at once. You'll be glad if you get out of OCS with a little spare cash saved up.

I was BDCP for a little over a yr, Sept '02 - Nov '03, and I made my '02, '03 and '04 Roth IRA contributions with the money. I highly recommend that all ppl lucky enough to get BDCP take a look around at the financial status of all those baby boomers that can't afford to retire due to poor financial planning. Basically the Gov't is giving you a great gift, don't go blow it all. Try and save at least some of your money for later in life when you may actually need it.

Also don't forget that you will probably spend about $2500-$3000 at OCS just on uniforms, class treasury, hi mom's, tee shirts, etc., and you will get a pay cut when you go to OCS because you won't get BAH anymore, and they will deduct most of your BAS money to pay for the chow hall.
