I just got caught speeding for the first time this weekend. I have a court summons for doing 110 in a 70...anybody know if this will adversely affect me for service selection?

Probably not. I know quite a few pilots who got parking/speeding tickets while they were midshipmen.

Now, if you got caught speeding the wrong way down US-50 drunk and only 20, then I'd say you might not get a SNA slot...

I doubt it will affect you at service selection. You will have to ease off on the gas in the future, though. Once you're commissioned, that crap ain't gonna fly. That's beyond just "I'm a little late" fast and well into "Cannonball run" fast.

No I didn't luckily...just that and a "failure to dim headlights citation"

I'm just getting nervous since senior year is next year and I don't know how tickets will affect me.

Well I know there's always a possibility of getting caught, it just turns out that happened to be the first time.

Is a '99 corolla kick ass?

So you mean to tell us you think going 110+ on a recurring basis in a COROLLA is a good idea?

We have something right up your alley....

I don't do it that frequently, all I said was that I've done it more than once...or twice.

That image isn't right up my alley haha.

Hey man,

You're good with just a speeding ticket. I did the same prior to Service Selection (not 110, but 80 in a 55). It had no effect. I actually went to court and got the points knocked off in return for paying a higher fine. Not a bad idea if you don't want the points for insurance reasons. So, as it was said before, it'll lighten your wallet, but won't affect selection.

Just be thankful you did not get it in Virginia, you would be going to jail for about 4-5 days and have a 60-365 day sentence on you record (all but the 4-5 days suspended). Let up off the gas........
