Is a certain degree is preferred by the Coast Guard? Do they want technical degrees? I have a degree in Management Science and was wondering if this would put me at a disadvantage among the other candidates?

The degree isn't all that important for OCS. I know officers who have degrees in mechanical engineering and officers with degrees in English literature. The grades you get are important though.

I agree. I have friends who have history and liberal arts majors!
