Yesterday, I hung up my rig for the next nine months or so. Since my reserve is due for a repack and I should spend the next few months getting in better shape, preparing to sell my house and move my family into an apartment, I figureed that I should not be skydiving and taking the additional risk or hurting myself before OCS. And wouldn't you know it, today was a beautiful day, blue skies, white puffy clouds. I can't wait until after OCS and the feeling of falling down again.

I feel for you Sabre. I'll get some jumps in for ya. I was at work all day looking out at the sky.... that is depressing. And my girlfriend went skydiving without me... it is wrong I tell you.

I love skydiving :p !!

Just saw this thread and thought I'd get in on the action...
I just got my A-license this summer. I did AFF which rocks because I don't think I would have liked the static line thing and Frefalling is where it's at.

I wish someone would get some jumps in for me because it has gotten too cold to jump...the season is over!

But I plan on going down to Florida to get some jumps in, but maybe I shouldn't be trying to hurt myself before OCS either?

"To skydive or not to skydive?" That's never really a question...

PS at my DZ you learn to never say "That was my first...." because that's a helluva lot of beer owed after a while.

A few options to being your FIRST anything skydiving related:

my initial experience
pre-second
less than a couple
not as many as you

I also like the shirt, "My skydiving problem has a drinking club"... something along those lines.

Well, my skydiving club's t-shirts say --

"What could possibly go wrong?"

B/c the DZO will let you try just about anything no matter how stupid it is. Like jumping blindfolded with no audible. Funny thing is this one guy always pulled frighteningly low but this was the first time he actually pulled at 2 grand...

I don't know if you heard about this... But at Cross Keys NJ, a guy just died like 2 - 3 weeks ago. An older jumper, he jumped w/ no altimeter, audible, goggles, cypress or even an RSL. He was on his back doing a track to under a thousand feet, rolled onto his belly and deployed his main, and rode a streamer into the ground.

I dont know about everyone else, but I'm not in the business of making skydiving more dangerous than it inherently is; I can have plenty of fun being safe.

Our skydiving club has its own set of apparel... we have the T-Shirts and sweats, but the greatest is the "Ultra Low Drag Sit-Fly Shorts" <read thong> with a silhouette of a guy in a head down position and a caption of "Going Down?"

Roger that...

I don't think you should make skydiving dangerous by being stupid. There's this guy who comes by on occassion and has 1000s of jumps and his sons are world champions for the US team and he never jumps with goggles. And I'm like how in hell do you see anything in freefall? He just laughs. But he's really old school and doesn't believe in freeflying. He's like there's only one right way.... belly to the wind...

Guess it pays to be that good...

Sorry but I need googles.
