Should I write NOMI?

I have been selected on an air contract, but I am currently pending an eye waiver. This is something I have been waiting on now for 6 months. My OSO told me that I may not find out up until I am commissioned whether I will be granted the waiver, since he has no idea what is going on. I am tempted to write NOMI and find out if they lost my stuff or if there is something else going on that I am not being told. Have any of you wrote NOMI and received word on anything? Is it even worth it?

There were people at OCS that didn't get waivers until a few days before commissioning. I guess that's just how NOMI does things.

It took almost a year for me to hear back about my EKG waiver. So this doesn't sound out of the ordinary. Maybe Feddoc can enlighten us about the process which a waiver has to go through before getting back to the individual.

And NOMI does lose stuff. I and another girl from my unit were waiting on waivers and when we went down to Pcola for physiology they weren't going to let us begin training since NOMI lost our records. Fortunately, a couple phone calls later and some HN found our stuff at the bottom of a box stuck in some office somewhere.

Excellent reason why you should always make copies of stuff that may be abnormal in your record. The run-of-the-mill annual flight physical, probably not, but if you've got a waiver or something similar I'd recommend making a copy and putting it in a safe place.

Yes, or even two copies. I keep one in a fireproof lockbox at my parent's house, and then one stays with me where I live in a box.

Was there an actualy copy of the waiver? The only docs I have are that of the cyclo exam. I never saw any actual copies or documents of an official waiver.

I keep a copy of my ENTIRE medical and dental record, and update them about twice a year. Supposedly, some new-fangled system is supposed to prevent you from getting screwed-over by your record being lost, but I'll believe it when I see it. The extra 1.5lbs I take with me in my fire-proof box is worth it.
