Should I be sleeping more?

Simba Barracuda.
Should I be sleeping more, or am I just a pansy?

Between work/school/flying/and getting up before the dew sets in to PT, i get between four and five hours of sleep per night. It's been about two months since i got a full six hours (yeah christmas!), and i'm wondering if it could be adding up to some kind of long-term sleep deprevation.
Aside from a noticably shorter-than-usual temper, and, of course, being tired a lot, i don't think i'm showing any real side effects, but I can't help but wonder if I'd be doing better in school and hitting the numbers better in the air (maybe, maybe, getting one more pull-up?).
My buddy (we'll call him stevo) is army, and has plenty of fun stories about what happens when you get less than an hour of sleep per night for over a week. That's pretty much what prompted my original question ( tired or pansy).
Just wondering if anybody else has been keeping a similar schedule for a while and living just fine with it (or, since i've got you reading this, if anybody's got good stories about when they haven't slept in a while).

maybe i should start taking naps during math. maybe i'll feel like i'm getting something done there.

If you are posting something like this you might need more sleep. Wait, I have an idea! Put the computer down, turn it off and walk away slowly. You can't let Airwarriors suck you in anymore......Maybe you could sleep better at night if you stopped thinking about guys like Akafiedelman and Patmack :D

Boat answers.

8 hours a day. Anything I get at night is gravy.

If you sleep 12 hours a day, cruise is only 3 months long.

Yup, 3 year orders to NWDC (Navy Warfare Development Command). I'll be here till Jul 2007.

I had a blue curtained "Time Machine" in my stateroom on the boat. Close the curtains...ta daaaa...8-12 hours later. I think I set a cruise record of 15 hours once...almost hurt myself trying not pee that long...

I love reminiscing...oh yeah..get more sleep.

What made me so tired all the time....

That took me a couple of reads. First time through, I read it as two guys/one rack. Kept thinking: "Air Force?"

funny.... my first thought would have been "Navy?"

On my roommates OEF cruise on the Kennedy, one squadron had 2 guys in the rack, for the ENTIRE cruise. They would actually have it hard scheduled to have 2 guys in the rack... they would schedule AOM's in the staterooms, whatever it took....
Done before and it will be done again. I posted a similiar statement about a VF squadron doing this on the TR during Desert Storm.

in defense of my use of this site, i don't have internet access from my apartment, so i'm pretty much limited to the computers at my school library. no message boards my pasty white butt. this post right now, however, comes as a treat from staying at my friend's place for the night, as i procrastinate between sets of crunches. (not trying to sound like a bad-ass, i assure you i'm panting and wheezing like a skydiving asthmatic)

...i just leaned forward to type and almost fell out of the chair. i'm going to bed.

Some people dream about a better tomorrow. I'm probably dreaming about better than 1:1 thrust to weight ratios.
