Those pictures remind me of Senator Chapman's old yacht, the Gatsby.

I saw the Yacht many times while having beers after Nats games by the DC waterfront. So they towed it to Maine?

Another presidential yacht, this time the former gunboat USS Williamsburg. Originally built as the 234 ft, 1,800 ton private yacht Aras in 1931, she was purchased by the US Navy in 1941 and converted to a gunboat operating mostly out of Iceland. After the war, the USS Williamsburg was converted to a president yacht for Presidents Truman and Eisenhower. Renamed Anton Bruun, she was then transferred to the National Science Foundation and converted to an oceanographic research vessel for 20 years. In the end, she was purchased by an Italian firm to be converted to a luxury cruise ship but the deal came apart. The ship eventually sank, was raised and then scrapped.

As a sidenote, one of the Marine security guards was Private First Class, later Private, later Private First Class Steve McQueen who was promoted 7 times and busted back 7 times due to discipline issues.

This included a 41 day stint in the brig (some might say cooler.)

Marine Corps Ramadan was last month. Save it for 2021.
Here’s a famous navy helicopter pilot for you...probably has a teen girl tied up in the back of his Sea King.
