Sending something to the sandbox

A friend of mine is deployed right now in Iraq, and I am sending him a package. I'd like to send him something that's hard to get over there, and I don't know what the current supply situation is like. He is a medic with a Convoy protection unit. Any suggestions on what to send?
Also, can beer be sent? I know it wouldn't be cheap, but it would definitely be tasty.

Negative on the beer. My wife sent me some "bug juice" when I was in the CAOC in Qatar and "some" of it was intercepted by customs. An Air Force Staff Sergeant sent me AND her a nastygram about it. Don't send anything that is perishable or melts. Peanuts are always good treats. Motivational publications such as Maxim, Stuff, "and the like" are good too.

I just tried sending my buddy a box of wine, we'll see how that goes. Other than that, I've been sending stupid stuff like T-Shirts from tshirthell.com and midget and grandma porn. I also send him CDs with new albums of MP3s burned. General stuff that breaks up the monotony. My buddy is infantry and they are pretty well supplied in geedunk from the Hadji-Mart at his FOB.

That's what you get for being greedy. Just use your ration card like everyone else.

Alcohol is a no-no, but candy with a little "FLAVOR" should be good to go. The weather here has finally cooled down below 100 degrees, so if you wait another month, chocolate will make it okay. My wife has sent me Peanut M&M....they made it here just fine.

Nuts, trail mix, granola bars, etc are always a welcome sight. It's almost Halloween, how about a bunch of Halloween Candy with some decorations?

You are limited by your imagination! What would you want if you were stranded on a desert island?

No porn either? What the hell is this some sort of Muslim fundamentalist government?

So should I not send the gentleman's magazines, or should I?
I'm going to pass on the booze, unless I can figure something out that will get it through.

Thanks for the tip on the halloween candy. I'll try to send a pinata or something.

Not saying you should or should not send reading material. It's up to you. I'm sure he will love it, but it may get someone into trouble....that's all.

If reading material, mouthwash, etc. were sent to the sandbox and found by customs would it actually get the recipient in trouble if he didn't know the items were being sent or would it be confiscated and a nastygram sent like FLYTPAY mentioned?
