Security Clearance and OCS

Hi good evening ma'ams/sirs,

I was trying to search about security clearance here in the thread but I was not able to find anything that is similar to my situation.

Back in 2021 I enlisted in the US Navy, I did my background investigation while in bootcamp. Unfortunately I was separated due to failing my final PRT and later found out that I have a condition which contributes to my poor PT performance.

I had my surgery and recovered and after that I enlisted again in 2024 and finally graduated bootcamp.

After I graduated bootcamp, I was reinvestigated and they found a lot of my accounts was in collections, and now I received a memorandum that they want to revoke my security clearance. My security manager submitted a statement of response which I also attached the proof of having a repayment plan for my student loans and debts enrolled in debt consolidation program since I have a stable income from the military.

The reason why I have a lot of debts is due to student loans and credit card debts because back in 2021, my dad passed away and paid some of his funeral expenses, and during that time also, we were having a hard time to find a job due to covid and was unemployed for a long time.

I want to submit an OCS package and almost done with it but unfortunately my security manager said he can't sign I believe it is page 5 of the application due to my security clearance.

My question is how long does it take for them to do another decision for my secret security clearance? Do I have a chance of having it reinstated or most likely it will get denied and possibly revoking my secret clearance? Am I still be able to commission or give up on that dream?

Sorry if it is too long and thank you so much ma'am/sirs for taking time to read.

This is one of those things you just need to work with your security manager on as that will be your best source of info. When I handled security clearances for my department some issues were weeks, some were almost a year, some were never cleared up.

Until you get this resolved you are at a stopping point.

Thank you for your response I really appreciate it.

Agree to use the command team as a POC. I’ve had a Sailor recently who got revoked and we asked for a reevaluation. It’s been several months and we still don’t have a determination
