From the old days...

F-14Santa.jpg

Is it too early for this? It seems like they've been playing Christmas songs on some radio stations since the 4th of July, so I figured it was okay.

Man, it's hard to think about 1997 being the old days....cool paint scheme, though.

VF-103 also had a special Chrismas scheme on one of their jets.

Does anyone remember the time Santa crashed the F-14A while taxxing at NKX doing an arrival for squadron member's little kids at Hangar 3. I think it was VF-211.

"Cookie" was CO and had Santa in his back seat. :)

Following an unusual start up....the jet started to taxi with only the right engine running, and no bi-di on line to link flight hydraulics to combined hydrualics.

The jet moved forward did a brake check with the PC (emerg brakes) then started to taxi for real......

With no combined system: no nose wheel steering (NWS) and no brakes...the Aux/Emerg brakes were bled down.

The jet rolled straight across the line into another F-14.

Santa arrived at Hangar 3 on yellow gear...the CO was visibly absent at the time. :(
