I hate to bring up a topic that seems to bring everyone's opinions on the subject out, but I would like to be able to use Flight Simulator at home and be able to do the same kind of things we can do with the Microsim trainers on base. I have purchased a pretty sweet model of the T-34C from alphasim, which has a few minor problems with the flight model, but it works for flying course rules and such. I was hoping somebody might have the scenery files that are used in the Microsim trainers. The course rule landmarks are not so easy to find using the default scenery. Thanks for any help.
Unfortunately, the AlphaSim flight model is horrible.. not to mention the cockpit panel/gauges, etc. The only thing that is really good is the exterior visual model. Power settings are all wrong, etc. I tweaked it, basically keeping only the exterior.. replaced all gauges with microsim gauges and even used microsim flight model.. power + attitude doesn't give me the right speed, but, eh, it's stable and a lot better than AlphaSim's.. I emailed AlphaSim several times, even posting publically in thier forums.. they didn't care.
Anyway, if your in Milton, your best bet is to walk into the Microsim office and talk to Mr. Brycacz (sp?) (pronounced Bryzak)
I talked with him about a month ago and they have huge improvments on the scenery.
If you're in Corpus, don't know what to tell you.
I used the microsim and I feel it helped me.
